PURPOSE: To provide an optical connector which eliminates the need for high- precision machining by a precise machine tool and decreases the number of components constituting it and can be standardized while maintaining superior connection stability.
CONSTITUTION: The receptacle for the optical connector provided internally with a ferrule array part which optically connects an optical fiber and an optical element by inserting its end part and putting optical fiber end surfaces or an optical fiber end surface and the input/output window of the optical element opposite each other, a housing 3 containing the ferrule array part 13 consists of housing blocks 3 and 3b which are divided about the center axis of the ferrule array part 13, and the housing 3 is constituted by assembling the housing blocks 3a and 3b in one body around the ferrule array part 13.
