To provide a recessed luminaire which is easlily assembled, and can be fitted even if a height in a back of a ceiling is low, while making heat in a ballast box escaped easily.
This recessed type luminaire is equipped with a recessed type ceiling fixture body 1 containing a light source inside and having a floodlight part 1a at a lower end and a ballast box 3 which is installed in a back of a ceiling while containing a ballast 13 with a heating part 14 as a component. A plate type box supporting member 1c which is on a side of the fixture body 1 and extends obliquely downwards from an upper end is provided in the fixture body 1, while the ballast box 3 is fitted to a lower surface of the box supporting member 1c a heat radiating hole 3b is provided on a side of the fixture body 1 in the ballast box 3, and the ballast 13 is contained in the ballast box 3 so that the heating part 14a of the ballast 13 is positioned on a side of the fixture body 1.
