To provide a rechargeable battery and a rechargeable battery housing device, replaceable by a simple operation in a very short time, being used for an electric automobile, or the like.
The rechargeable battery includes a first terminal which is provided on a side surface of a box-like rechargeable battery and is a terminal of one electrode for inputting/outputting a DC current in the rechargeable battery, and a second terminal which is provided on the side surface of the rechargeable battery and is a terminal of the other electrode paired with the first terminal. The first terminal is an insert terminal 304a made from a plate-like member. The second terminal is a pinching terminal 305b made from a plurality of plate-like members being parallel to each other. The insert terminal 304a and the pinching terminal 305b are provided side by side in the number of two pairs or more on the two side surfaces facing each other. An insert hole 304h or a cut 305c in which a shank of a bolt can be inserted are formed at the insert terminal 304a and/or the pinching terminal 305b.
