To provide a reciprocating compressor having a muffler, of which fitting operation can be simplified, size can be reduced to a compact one, cost can be cut down, and durability can be improved.
In the reciprocating compressor, a plurality of gas compressing sections having a cylinder and a piston are provided, and the piston movement in each gas compressing section is a coupled-movement, which is produced by transforming rotating movement of a crank shaft provided to a drive source into reciprocating movement via Scotch yoke mechanism. On the exhausting outlet 5a of a head cylinder 5 on a fourth gas compressing section 4, a discharge block 21 forming an expansive muffler 23 is fitted with a lock bolt 22, so that the expansive muffler 23 can reduce exhaustion gas pulsation to keep vibration and noise low.
