Title:
RECIPROCATING ENGINE HAVING PISTON WITH NO PISTON PIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6375341
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable reduction of the size and the weight of a piston and an engine, by a method wherein a connecting rod is secured to a piston, formed in a square shape in a plan view and having an arcurate curved surface on its side, and is engaged with a sqaure columnar cylinder.

CONSTITUTION: A piston 1, formed in a square shape in e plan view, is engaged internally of a cubic cylinder. The shape of a front part 5 and a back part 6 of a piston, making contact with a front wall 3 and a back wall 4 of the cylinder, is formed in a part of a circle centering around a point 7. Gas seals 5, 6, and 8 are attached to the side of the piston 1. The piston 1 is formed in a manner to be formed integrally with a connecting rod 2. This constitution eliminates a piston pin, reduces the height of the piston, and enables reduction of the size and the weight of an engine.
