Abstract:
Provided is an electric power generation system with which, when converting energy of a flowing fluid, such as wind power or wave power, into electric power, an electric power generation mechanism is located at a site different from a site that receives the energy of the flowing fluid, and the electric power generation mechanism does not receive abnormal winds or an abnormal waves of a typhoon or the like. In the electric power generation system, a reciprocating mechanism (20) is connected to a fluid receiving mechanism (10) that receives a flowing fluid, motion of the fluid receiving mechanism is converted into reciprocating motion, the reciprocating motion is transmitted to an electric power generation mechanism (30) that is disposed in a region different from a region in which the fluid receiving mechanism is disposed, and the reciprocating motion is converted into electric power. The reciprocating mechanism includes a tubular outer cable (22) that is disposed between the fluid receiving mechanism and the electric power generation mechanism, and an inner cable (21) that is inserted through the outer cable (22), that is connected to the fluid receiving mechanism and to the electric power generation mechanism, that performs reciprocating motion in the outer cable in accordance with the motion of the fluid receiving mechanism, and that transmits the reciprocating motion to the electric power generation mechanism.
