Title:
RECIPROCTING ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11148351
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To reduce the concentration of the nitrogen oxides in exhaust emission by eliminating conventional defects by a mechanism simple to the utmost and at a low cost.

In a reciprocating engine, which is provided with at least one main combustion chamber 6, to which at least one gas and/or air inlet port 8, fuel injection device 5 and exhaust outlet port 9 are attached, and wherein at least one auxiliary chamber 11 is connected to each main combustion chamber 6 through at least one auxiliary chamber outlet 10, which opens to the main combustion chamber 6, and each auxiliary chamber 11 has a device to ignite the material contained in each auxiliary chamber 11 while the engine is running burning gas fuel, and runs selectively use liquid fuel or fuel gas, a device to ignite during running by fuel gas burning is of an external ignition device 13. In such constitution, exhaust emission value, nitrogen oxides value in particular, can simply optimized at a low cost by supplying gas to the auxiliary chamber 11 through a gas introducing pipe 12.
