PURPOSE: To prevent relative dislocation between a ratchet and a pawl along a thicknesswise direction, and further prevent the disengagement of gear teeth from each other by clamping the surface of the ratchet, together with the pawl, from both sides, so as to be kept in contact with the surface of a flat lower arm and a set plate.
CONSTITUTION: A support shaft 6 is erected on the rear end surface of a lower arm 4 extended along the side of a seat cushion, and has a plate type ratchet 1 coupled in such state as rotatable about a center. The lower half section of the ratchet 1 has an approximately segment form and teeth 1a are formed on the external surface thereof. Also, a pawl 2 is positioned under the ratchet 1. This pawl 2 is long plate type and the base end thereof is rotatably supported on a pin 21 caulked and fixed to both of the lower arm 4 and a set plate 5. Furthermore, teeth 2a are formed on the side of the forward end of the pawl 2 and come to gear with the teeth 1a of the ratchet 1. The ratchet 1 and the pawl 2 are slidably clamped with the lower arm 4 and the set plate 5, with both surfaces kept in contact therewith.
