To provide a recoil starter capable of bringing out maximum rotation speed and power of an engine for a model by separating a starting shaft of an engine starting part and a crankshaft constructing an engine main body, not always connecting the same but connecting and separating the same as need arises.
This recoil starter is provided with a polygon pole shape lead hub 40 having lead grooves 41, 42 including a fixed stroke S in an axial direction formed on side surfaces, fitted in a polygon section shape shaft hole 25 formed in a reel 20 and rotatable as one body with the reel 20, and a starting shaft 50 composed of a disk part 51 and a shaft part 52, having the shaft part 52 inserted into the shaft hole 43 of the polygon pole shape lead hub 40, and pivotally supported by a cover plate 60 of a starter case 10 slidably in a range of the stroke S by rotary movement of a through pin 53 fixed on the shaft part 52 along the lead grooves 41, 42. A plurality of tilted machined surfaces 51a are point-symmetrically formed on a crank pin 80 side of the disk part 51.
