To produce a cosmid vector enabling easy operations such as the modification and alteration of the gene of adenovirus and the introduction of a foreign gene and useful for the treatment of genetic diseases, etc., by including a specific adenovirus-like genom in the vector.
The cosmid vector contains an adenovirus-like genom having defects at E1 and E3 regions and completely containing the inverted terminal repeat sequences on both terminals or the vector has a restriction enzyme recognition site to isolate only the adenovirus-like genom part from the cosmid vector at both sides of the adenovirus-like genom part. Preferably, the cosmid vector is cut with a restriction enzyme to prepare a recombinant adenovirus wherein the expression of a gene subjected to the control of a tetracycline promoter is controllable by tetracycline.
