This new recombinant virus has the genome containing a nucleic acid sequence expressed by the formula and cording for a melanoma-associated p97 antigen or its antigenic part, exists under the control of a second nucleotide sequence which controls a gene expression so that the melanoma-associated p97 antigen or its antigenic part is expressed in a recipient of virus infection and capable of being used as a live virus vaccine composition, etc., useful for cancer treatment, etc. The virus is obtained by collecting polysomes from melanoma cells, isolating mRNAs form the polysomes, preparing a cDNA library, screening the library to obtain a cDNA of a melanoma-associated p97 antigen, integrating the cDNA into a phage vector, etc., and transducing the phage vector into a virus.
