To provide a recorder and a recording method capable of verifying a data acquiring time or the like.
A camera 5 has a function of issuing a time stamp for image data photographed with a camera section 33, in a tamper resistant section 20. The time stamp is issued by giving digital signature to the image data and an output time of an internal clock 22, using an apparatus secret key stored in the tamper resistant section 20. Also, the camera 5 is provided with a GPS section 34, and gives digital signature to the image data in combination with position information indicating the present position in photographing and photographic information for identifying an optical system (focal distance, aperture etc.) of the camera section 33 in photographing. As described above, the camera 5 records the time information, the position information and the photographic information together with the image data so that the information cannot be altered. Further, in the tamper resistant section 20, a mode for photographing is separated from a mode for executing time audit and time correction, thereby improving security level.
