Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for recording/reproducing embedded information which reliably detects image data being altered, if any, without missing this.
SOLUTION: In a recorder 1, a divided region setting unit 12 divides frame image data taken in an image memory 11 into many regions, an embedding code forming part 13 forms sets of embedding codes such that the operation by a specified function having a plurality of mutually related embedding codes as variables results in specified identification codes, and a code embedding unit 14 embeds each set of codes in each image data in the regions according to specified position corresponding rules. A reproducer divides the image data in the same condition as at the recorder 1 to extract individual embedded codes, groups the embedded codes based on the rules, makes an operation to obtain the identification codes using the specified function, and decides the existence of the alteration based on whether or not the identification codes are obtained about all the sets.
