To provide a recorder reduced in its entire apparatus by simplifying a developing unit by providing a means for controlling an ink thickness discovered as an optimum value of the thickness in a system different from an offset printing using a waterless lithographic plate.
An ink layer on a developing roller 1 is brought into contact with a surface of a recording medium on which a latent image is written by a thermal head 8, and the medium is ink developed. The ink layer is uniformly spread and formed on the roller from an ink fountain 3-1 via an ink supply roller 2. An ink image on the medium is transferred to a sheet P to be pressure fed between a recording medium drum and a pressurizing roller 7. A viscosity of the used ink is about 100 to 10,000 poise, and a thickness of the ink layer is necessarily controlled to a range of 3 to 6 μm, and conducted on the roller 1 by an ink scraping means 4-1 of a roller or a blade which is not rotated or reversely rotated. The thickness of the ink layer is regulated by a contact pressure of the roller 1 with a scraping member. The roller 1 is desirably an elastic material having a rubber hardness of 30 to 80 degrees.
