PURPOSE: To enable recording of which quality is stable to be carried out by preventing density from decreasing in recording by a method wherein excess drop of supply voltage is made not to be generated by reducing a peak value of power consumption in a recorder.

CONSTITUTION: When recording is carried out by driving a recording head following scan transfer with the recording head, while exciting signals 1-4 of a stepping motor being a driving source of transfer are off, i.e., electric power is not supplied to the motor, a driving signal of the recording head is turned 'on' to perform recording such as dot forming or the like on recording paper. Thereby, a peak of electric power to be consumed with the whole of the recorder in recording can be decreased.
