The recording/reproducing apparatus is configured to record a photographed moving picture as the single QuickTime file to a recording disk medium having a plurality of areas whose characteristics differ from each other, and a plurality of the areas include a first area with a faster access speed and a second area with a slower access speed, a 'movie' part in the QuickTime file format is recorded in the first area, and a "media data' part in the QuickTime file format is recorded in the second area.
