To provide technique for converting image data into a transferable form from a transfer device, without performing a complicated operation thereby to preserve the data in a prescribed file path, when the image data are transferred from the transfer device having communication functions.
The imaging apparatus to which the transfer device having a function of transferring the preserved image data to the prescribed file path by a prescribed data form is connected includes an image pickup means for picking-up a subject and generating the image data; an operating means for receiving the indication of the data transfer by a user; a conversion means for converting the image data by the first form which is not transferable by the transfer device into the image data by the second form which is transferable by the transfer device; and a control means for performing control that allows the image data converted into the second form by the converting means to be preserved in the file path which is transferable by the transfer device. Conversion by the conversion means and preservation in the file path by the control means are performed automatically, in response to the reception of the indication of the data transfer by the operation means.
