Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely identify the kinds of the disks stored in the disk cartridges having common shapes and to surely record information signals.
SOLUTION: The device is provided with a magnetic head contacting and separating control mechanism 80 which detects an identification section 31 that is provided on a disk cartridge 1 to indicate whether the disk stored in the cartridge 1 being mounted on the device is a magneto-optical disk 2 or not. Based on the detection result of the mechanism 80, a magnetic head device 65 is controlled to move between the lowered location at which the device 65 is slid with the disk stored in the cartridge 1 and the location which is separated from the disk stored in the cartridge 1.
