Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically predict and inform the timing of paper run-out by detecting the remaining length of paper being mounted on a paper-feeding mechanism by means of a paper amount detector, and by obtaining the paper consumption speed per hour on the basis of a plurality of paper-remaining lengths detected by the paper amount detector at different times through a system control unit. SOLUTION: A paper amount detector 10 detects the paper-remaining amount of roll paper 15 that has been mounted on a paper-feeding mechanism 14, and the paper remaining length data are stored in the memory of a system control unit 20. On the basis of both the remaining length between the length read out from the preceding memory and the length read out from the present memory, and the lapse time measured between the preceding and the present times, the paper consumption speed per hour is calculated and stored in the memory. At a prescribed paper run-out calculating timing, the time data are read from a calendar clock circuit, and the paper-remaining length data and the hysteresis data of paper consumption speed are read from the memory, and then the time when the roll paper 15 is exhausted is predictably calculated by the system control unit 20, and the paper run-out timing is displayed on a LCD 12.
