Title:
RECORDING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2013035216
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a technique capable of more accurately determining proximity of a recording head and a recording medium than in the conventional configuration while keeping cost.

A recording device includes: a sensor which detects a distance in an ink ejecting direction between the recording medium and the recording head; and a signal processing means which determines whether or not the recording head and the recording medium are proximate to each other based on an output signal from the sensor. The sensor has two or more pairs of light emitting elements and light receiving elements that receive reflected light obtained by irradiating the recording medium with light, and is set in such a way that the peak of received light quantity of the reflected light received by the light receiving element may be obtained when the light from the light emitting element is reflected on the recording medium at a shorter distance than a distance in device design between the recording medium and the recording head. The two or more pairs of light emitting elements and light receiving elements are arranged on a plane parallel with an ejecting port surface of the recording head so as to have such positional relationship that a plane including an optical axis linking the light emitting element with the light receiving element crosses a plane including an optical axis linking the light emitting element with the light receiving element included in any other pair.
