PURPOSE: To obtain a recording fluid which dries quickly on a recording material such as paper by compounding a specific polymer, a compd. which reacts with the polymer to form a salt, an aq. medium, a pigment, and a set-to-touch drying agent.
CONSTITUTION: A polymer having a mol.wt. of 5.000-100,000 is obtd. by polymerizing a monomer mixture comprisng an arom. vinyl monomer selected from the group consisting of styrene, a styrene deriv., vinylnaphthalene, and a vinylnaphthalene deriv., a carboxylic monomer selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, etc., and a monomer selected from the group consisting of an acrylic ester, a methacrylic ester, etc., in an amt. of the sum of the foregonig two monomers of 10-40wt.% of the total amt. of the monomers. A recording fluid is obtd. by dissolving and dispersing the polymer, a compd. such as an alkali metal, an aliph. amine, or an alcoholamine which reacts with the polymer to form a salt, a pigment, and at least one set-to- touch drying agent selected from N--acetylbenzylamine, etc., in water or a mixture of water with a water-sol. org. solvent, and centrifuging the resuulting fluid.
