To provide a recording material processing device which is given a function causing a recording material to stand by on the upstream side of a processing means for processing the recording material, and nonetheless enables the upsizing of the device to be suppressed.
After the rear end of a sheet P1 passes through a switching member 47, exit rolls 432 are made to stop rotating to stop the conveyance of the sheet P1. Next, as shown in (A), the switching member 47 is moved downward. Next, as shown in (B), the exit rolls 432 are rotated in an opposite direction to convey the sheet P1 toward the upstream side in the conveying direction of the sheet P1 by a predetermined amount. In this case, the sheet P1 is guided by the switching member 47 to move obliquely downward. Thereafter, the switching member 47 is moved upward. Consequently, a second sheet which has been discharged from an image forming apparatus 2 moves on the sheet P1.
