Title:
RECORDING MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62152779
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an ink jet recording material excellent in ink receptivity, clearness of recorded images and surface luster and particularly suitable for obtaining high-resolution images, by setting the ink absorption rate of the upper one of adjacent coating layers to be higher than that of the lower one.

CONSTITUTION: When providing at least two coating layers on a base by using water-soluble or hydrophilic polymers to provide an ink-receiving layer, the ink absorption rate of the upper one of the adjacent coating layers is set to be higher than that of the lower one. A water-soluble or hydrophilic polymer has an intrinsic ink absorption rate, which can be easily found by providing a coating layer of the polymer in a specified thickness, applying a specified quantity of a water base ink to the surface of the coating layer, and measuring the period of time necessary for the ink to be absorbed. On the basis of the ink absorption rates thus measured, two or more coating layers are so provided on the base that the ink absorption rate of the upper one of the adjacent coating layers is higher than that of the lower one.
