Since the carriage capacity of the recording medium can be maintained to be a constant value, recording of high accuracy can be performed. The suction force is operated based on the size of the recording medium. Further, the suction force is operated based on the kind of the recording medium. Still further, the suction force is operated based on the carrying position of the recording medium. Therefore, the carrying accuracy can be enhanced to cope with a case in which the suction force is possibly changed.
