To provide a recording medium supply device which can certainly release the tip of a recording medium from a roll body.
This recording medium supply device is equipped with a feed roller 88 which comes into contact with the peripheral surface of a rolled paper 12 within the range of a part, in a width direction, of the rolled paper 12 and a release plate 90 which comes into contact with the peripheral surface of the rolled paper 12 within the other range different from the range of a part, in a width direction, of the rolled paper 12. When the rolled paper 12 rotates and thereby, the tip 44a of the recording sheet reaches a release part 52, the tip of the release plate 90 comes into a gap (t2) between the peripheral surface of the rolled paper 12 and the tip 44a of the recording sheet. In this case, the tip 44a of the recording sheet is not straightened by a feed roller 88 coming into contact with the peripheral surface of the rolled paper 12 but undulates to the peripheral surface of the rolled paper 12. Especially, the gap (t2) between the feed roller 88 and the peripheral surface of the rolled paper 12 is wide within the ranges L3, L4 and L5 where the feed roller 88 is not in contact with the rolled paper 12, and the tip of the release plate 90 can be easily inserted into the gap (t2) between the peripheral surface of the rolled paper 12 and the tip 44a of the recording sheet. Thus the release of the tip 44a of the recording sheet is certainly achieved by the release plate 90.
