To provide recording paper having superior dimensional stability and high opacity.
The recording paper has three or more layers of pulp fiber layers that contain pulp as a main raw material, includes 7% or more but 12% or less of an ash content, has a high ash-content layer and a low ash-content layer that is adjacent to the high ash-content layer, as the pulp fiber layers, and in which a difference between an ash content of the high ash-content layer and an ash content of the low ash-content layer is 3% or more. The recording paper has a surface layer 1, two or more layers of intermediate layers 2 and 3 and a back layer 4 in this order, as the pulp fiber layers and preferably has both of the high ash-content layer and the low ash-content layer in positions of the intermediate layers 2 and 3.
