To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus integrated with a camera which is capable of using an operating mode of a recording switch for reducing the number of times of operation for recording and preventing unnecessarily power consumption and an operating mode of the recording switch for strictly selecting and recording an object or its composition, according to the user's usage situation for each user or in each case, while switching the operating mode by using the same recording switch.
When a function-switching switch 9 is closed in advance, power distribution to an imaging circuit 1 and a recording circuit 4 is started by only closing a recording switch 12, and recording is performed by a second recording term signal generating circuit 13, while the recording switch is pressed. Furthermore, when the function-switching switch 9 is opened, in advance, power distribution is started by a power distributing switch 5 and shifted to a recording standby state, the composition or the like is selected strictly, and start of recording and standby states are repeated alternately, by pressing the recording switch by a first recording term generating circuit.
