PURPOSE: To improve the reliability of a circuit, by constituting the circuit so that reproduced PCM data from a rotary head is written in a memory only when a window is opened and making it possible to extract efficiently data in the processing of PCM data at a reproducing time.
CONSTITUTION: A tape is wound around a tape guide drum less than the angular interval of heads to provide the section where heads 1A and 1B are not brought into contact with the tape, and this section is utilized to perform processings such as error correction. At a reproducing time, the window (corresponding to a window pulse DAW) adapted to the section where data is inputted to a reproduced signal processing circuit is provided, and data is written in the memory of the signal processing circuit only when this window is opened. Thus, data is sent to the reproduced signal processing circuit efficiently. Since the section of the write to the memory is adapted to input reproduced data in this manner, the time for signal processing is economized, and the spare time is spent for other purposes such as higher-grade error detection and correction. Since the operation is controlled by the window pulse, mixture of data on a bus is not generated.
