Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a dropout at the time of recording and reproducing by providing a dust collector for collecting dust sticking to a recording surface of a recording medium under a non-contact condition against the recording surface. CONSTITUTION:The dust collector 10 for collecting dust sticking to the recording surface 1a of the optical tape (recording medium) 1 under the non-contact condition against its recording surface 1a, is disposed on the upper stream side of the transfer direction of the optical tape 1 toward an optical head (recording and reproducing head) 7. Consequently, at the time of recording and reproducing the optical tape 1, provided that the surface 11a of a dust collector drum 11 is electrostatically charged by a charger 12, the dust A sticking to the recording surface 1a of the optical tape 1 is attracted just prior to the optical head 7 in its movement by an attracting force due to static electricity to the surface 11a of the dust collector drum 11, being removed from the recording surface 1a. In this way, the dust A sticking to the recording surface 1a can not be transferred as it is to the optical head 7, and hence the drop-out can never be generated accordingly.
