Abstract:
To improve the convenience of transmitting/receiving a huge amount of contents while protecting the copyright, in a recording and reproducing system wherein a recording section and a reproducing section are physically separated.
A recording section 101 uses a recording medium 121 with a copyright protection function, to transmit/receive a contents key for encrypting contents to/from a reproduction section 111 physically separated from the recording section 101. Since the reproduction section 111 can use the received contents key, it is not required to always use the recording medium 121 with the copyright protection function at reproduction.
