PURPOSE: To obtain a tape path adjusting tape identifying easily the change in a reproduced waveform by recording a tracking servo control signal to the center of three adjacent tracks.
CONSTITUTION: A single signal S1 is inserted to the middle of a track 2A1, synchronizing signals SY3, SY4 are recorded respectively to synchronizing signal parts 19, 20 and the signal S1 is recorded to other parts. On the other hand, pilot signal P3 is written to pilot signal parts 11 and 12, 13 and 14 while clipping a prescribed length of non-signal part being a reference marker at each middle part of tracks 2B1, 2B2 adjacent to the track 2A1, and when a signal SY3 in response to the tape running direction or the like is detected, the pilot signal of the signal part 12 in succession to the signal part 11 of the track 2B1 is reproduced. Then both reproducing signals are compared t form an error signal. In this case, a reproduced waveform is a square waveform in comparison with the provision of the control signal at both ends of each track and an excellent tape path adjusting tape identifying easily the waveform change is obtained.
