To provide a recovery device for an ink-jet printer, which can close a recovery pail and a record head tight, and can carry out a recovery operation securely in recoverying work, without giving useless pressure to the ink inside the record head.

A recorded head 1 is pressed relatively and separated by a recovery pail 4 into which an ink is discharged so that a state of ink in the record head 1 is kept properly. A closed part 5 to keep an ink discharge mouth 2 and the inside of the recovery pail 4 in a closed state when the recovery pail 4 and the record head 1 are pressed and a pressure absorption member 5 for absorbing increase and decrease of the internal pressure of the recovery pail 4 are provided.
