Title:
RECOVERY METHOD OF URANIUM IN SEA WATER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS54137415
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To recover uranium in the sea water with good efficiency by bringing an uranium adsorbent into ontact with the sea water for cooling condensers in atomic power generation or steam power generation.

CONSTITUTION: The sea water from the sea water intake 4 is introduced through the pipe 5 into the condenser 7 of a generator for cooling, and then the sea water warmed up by 5 to 7°C after cooling the condenser is sent to the water storage tank 8 by the discharge pipe 6. Then, the uranium(U) adsorbent of a grain size of 10 to 200μm is charged with the sea water into the water storage tank 8. The U adsorbent 10 used, composed of a combination of a ferromagnetic substance, e.g., ferrite, magnetite, etc., and a substance of a high U-adsorbability, e.g., Ti, Al, Sn, etc., is then sent to the magnetic separator 9 with the sea water to separate the magnetic akdsorbent 10 from the sea water. The adsorbent is then treated with Na2CO3, etc., to elute U adsorbed for recovery, and then the adsorbent deprived of U is washed with water and reused. The adsorbent 10 may be charged into the sea water at the sea water intake 4.
