Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To individually recover with high purity zinc and cadmium contained as valuable materials in the dust which is discharged from a high temperature treatment furnace and contains arsenic and copper as impurities.
SOLUTION: An oxidizing agent consisting of at least one kind of potassium permanganate and/or hydrogen peroxide is added to a solution containing zinc, cadmium and arsenic, and the pH value is regulated to be pH=3.5-5.7 by adding an alkali containing an alkaline calcium salt to generate the precipitate mainly containing arsenic and copper. The solid in the solution is separated from the liquid, and the filtrate obtained through the solid-liquid separation is sulfurized, cadmium contained in the filtrate is precipitated as cadmium sulfide, the solid is separated from the liquid to recover the cadmium sulfide as the residue.
