To provide a rectangular sealed battery capable of realizing high output by reducing the internal resistance per unit cell.
In this rectangular sealed battery comprising a rectangular battery jar 3 formed by connecting plural rectangular parallelepiped battery jars 4 through partitions 5, group of electrodes 8, and collectors 10 respectively joined to lead parts at both sides of the group of electrodes 8, in a state of storing the group of electrodes 8 joined to the collector 10, in each battery jar 4, an opening 21 is formed on a mounting position of each partition 5 of at least one side wall 20 of the rectangular battery jar 3 in a state of being faced to the battery jars 4 on both sides, a conductive connecting plate 23 mounted in the opening 21 is connected to the collectors 10, 10 positioned on both sides of the partition 5, the conductive connecting plate 23 is sealed and joined to the rectangular battery jar 3 through an elastic layer 25, the internal resistance is reduced by shortening an energizing passage between the groups of electrodes 8, and the electrolyte is surely sealed between the battery jars 4, 4 by the elastic layer 25.
