Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red light emitting phosphor capable of efficiently absorbing ultraviolet rays at the excitation wavelength 370 nm of a light emitting diode or thereabout to emit red light in high efficiency and practically usable in the light emitting diode to allow a single light emitting diode to emit white color light or arbitrary medium color light, its production process and an LED lamp produced by using the phosphor.
SOLUTION: This phosphor is a europium.samarium-doped lanthanum oxysulfide phosphor expressed by the formula; (La1-x-yEuxSmy)2O2S (0.01≤x≤0.15; 0.0001≤y≤0.03). Preferably, the peak wavelength in an excitation spectrum distribution exists in an ultraviolet wavelength region of 360-380 nm and the atomic ratio (x) of europium (Eu) in the formula is 0.03-0.08.
