Abstract:

To provide: a red phosphorus-based flame retardant of low phosphine generation amount, excellent in dispersibility when blended into a synthetic resin, and applicable for use as a film and an electric wire coating material; a method for producing the red phosphorus-based flame retardant free from a problem in workability; a flame-retardant resin composition using the red phosphorus-based flame retardant; and a film and an electric wire coating material enhanced in an appearance, using the flame-retardant resin composition.

The red phosphorus-based flame retardant is obtained by applying surface-modifying treatment to fine powdery red phosphorus obtained by conducting a thermal conversion reaction of yellow phosphorus in the presence of a dispersant, and has 5-15 μm of average particle size, 80 mass% or more thereof is constituted of particles having 20 μm or less of particle size, and the dispersant is an alkyl group-containing nonionic surfactant having no nitrogen-containing functional group.
