To provide a method with which undersize powder from dry-pellet and pellet exhausted to out of the system can be treated without circulating to a granulating process, in order to reduce a producing cost of a reduced metal.
Into iron ore powder A and coal B, water D if necessary, binder C are added and green pellet E obtained by granulating with a pelletizer 2 is dried in a dryer 3 to obtain the dried pellet F. Successively, the dried pellet F is classified into the over-size pellet F1 and the undersize pellet F2 with a screen 4. Then, in the undersize powder F2, if necessary, the pellet H exhausted to out of the system from the dries pellet F is added, and after kneading with a kneader 6 without adding the binder and the water, this material is compression-formed with a briquette-forming machine 7 to form the briquette J. This briquette J is charged together with the over-size pellet F1 into a rotary hearth furnace 5 and heating-reduction is performed to produce reduced iron G.
