Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reducing reagent capable of efficiently performing an asymmetric reducing reaction selectively from a surface having less steric hinderance of a substrate by using a crosslinked nicotinic amide derivative having a specific parapyridinophane structure.
SOLUTION: This reducing reagent contains a compound of formula I [R1 is a 1-4C alkyl; R2 is a 1-6C alkyl; (n) is an integer of 8-13], preferably as an asymmetric reducing agent. In the compound of formula I, in order to obtain a compound wherein R1 is methyl, R2 is isopropyl and (n) is 10, cyclododecanone is easily used as a starting material. Further, the compound of formula I donates hydrogen ion to a substrate, is oxidized itself and converted to a compound of formula II [R11 is same as R1; R12 is same as R2; (m) is an integer of 8-13]. The compound of formula I can be regenerated easily from the compound of formula II. Thereby, it is possible to progress an asymmetric reducing reaction stereo selectively and setereo specifically at various temperatures.
