The other end of a worm 1 the one end part of which is supported by a housing 3 by a rolling bearing. An electric power steering device comprises a moving element 7 movable in a direction in which the worm 1 is pressed against a worm wheel 2; a coil spring 9 energizing the moving element 7; and a guide hole 35 to guide the movement of the moving element 7. A resistance element 11 to apply a resistance force lower than the energizing force of the soil spring 9 on the worm 1 or an elastic element 25 is situated between the guide hole 35 and the moving element 7. The energizing force of the coil spring 9 can be set to a value capable of suppressing the movement of the worm 1 by an engaging reaction force, and a pre-load applied to the engaging part can be decreased.
