Title:
REDUCTION OF HYDROLYZABLE CHLORIDE IN TOLUENE DIISOCYANATE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH051014
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for reducing a hydrolyzable chloride in toluene diisocyanate(TDI) and more particularly in TDI distillation bottoms and to obtain a polymer produced by using the reduced hydrolyzable chloride bottoms.

CONSTITUTION: Crude toluene diisocyanate contg. a hydrolyzable chloride is subjected to (a) partial reflux, (b) partial reflux and fractionation or (c) complex reflux and fractionation, by which the reactive and viscosity-stable toluene diisocyanate distillation bottoms and toluene diisocyanate contg. the reduced amt. of the hydrolyzable chloride are produced. These bottoms may be brought into reaction with the compds. contg. active hydrogen-contg. groups in order to produce polyurethane, polyurea and polyisocyanurate polymers and more particularly foamed polymers.
