Title:
REDUCTION IN AMOUNT OF SULFUR-CONTAINING HYDROCARBON BY USING MICROORGANISM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10117799
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To reduce the amount of a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon from petroleum, by bringing a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon such as dibenzothiophene into contact with a culture solution of a fangus belonging to the genus Coriolus, capable of converting the sulfur-containing hydrocarbon to a substance higher in hydrophilic nature.

At least one sulfur-containing hydrocarbon such as dibenzothiophene, monomethyl benzothiophene or methyl benzothiophene is brought into contact with a culture solution, a suspension of the cultured fungus or a solution after removal of the cell in the culture solution of the fungus [e.g. Coriolus versicolor] belonging to the genus Coriolus, capable of converting at least one of the sulfur-containing hydrocarbons to a substance higher in hydrophilic nature to efficiently reduce the amount of the sulfur-containing hydrocarbon from petroleum such as gas oil or kerosene.
