Abstract:

To provide a method for regulating a metal content, especially iron content in diphenylmethanediisocyanate or a diphenylmethanediisocyanate-based polyisocynate mixture.

This method for reducing an iron content in diphenylmethanediisocyanate or a diphenylmethanediisocyanate based polyisocyanate mixture to a weight range of 0.1-100 mg-Fe per 1 kg isocyanate comprises treating the diphenylmethanediisocyanate or the diphenylmethanediisocyanate-based polyisocyanate mixture with one or more microporous adsorbents having at least 100 m2/g inner surface area at 20-200°C under 0.5-100 bar pressure, and separating the diphenylmethanediisocyanate or the diphenylmethanediisocyanate-based polyisocyanate mixture from the microporous adsorbents.
