Abstract:
To reduce acidity of crude oil without adding a neutralizing agent or an anticorrosive agent and without converting the crude oil to a production system.
This method for reducing total acid value of acidic crude oil comprises bringing acidic crude oil into contact with a hydrogenating catalyst at about 200-370°C in the presence of a hydrogenating gas containing hydrogen sulfide under about 239-13,900 kPa total pressure. In the method, an amount of hydrogen sulfide in the hydrogenating gas is 0.05-25 mol.%.
