Abstract:
A combustion method wherein the fuel is burned in a primary combustion zone (10, 11, 12) under reducing conditions and sulfur captured as alkaline sulfide. The reducing gas formed is oxidized to combustion gas in a secondary combustion zone (2, 3) which is then separated from solids containing alkaline sulfide in a separation zone (13, 14). The separated solids are then oxidized in a solids oxidation zone (16) and recycled to the primary combustion zone.
