Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the utility of a heavy oil such as asphalt, coal-tar pitch and bitumen as a general-purpose fuel by removing metals, oxides and nitrogen components from the heavy oil.
CONSTITUTION: A heavy oil such as asphalt, coal-tar pitch and bitumen is incorporated with an acidic water of pH2.5-6.5 while kneading the heavy oil under high shearing force at high shearing rate to exhibit stringiness. Metals, oxides and nitrogen components in the heavy oil are transferred to the acidic water during the kneading process to obtain refined heavy oil.
