Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the purity of metallic Ga and to improve the yield of manufactures at the time of refining metallic Ga by a unidirectional solidifying method by regulating the refining stage to a multistage system.

CONSTITUTION: The refining method of metallic Ga is formed from refining means constituted of one or more stages of refining where metals 5 having high purity are refined from material coarse Ga 1 and a regenerating stage where metals having low purity are refined from the material 1. In each means, (e.g., secondary refining means 2b) in the above refining stage, a formed solid Si obtd. in the previous refining means 2a and impurity concd. molten metal L3 obtd. in the latter refining means 2c are regulated to the material. In such a manner, each material is subjected to refining treatment and a formed solid in the final refining means 2c is taken out as a manufacture 5. Furthermore, residual molten metal 6 from the final regenerating means 4 in the above regenerating stage is discharged to the outside of the refining treatment system.
