Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refining vessel for desulfurization and a desulfurization method, capable of efficiently dispersing an added desulfurizing agent in molten pig iron during desulfurization of molten pig iron with a mechanically agitating-type desulfurization device, achieving desulfurization treatment of molten pig iron at a higher desulfurizing ratio in comparison with a conventional method.SOLUTION: A refining vessel 13 includes the bottom constructed of refractory materials 16 having different construction thickness corresponding to the construction site such that the inner surface shape has no axial symmetry around the central axis of the refining vessel. The desulfurization method includes: immersing an impeller in molten pig iron accommodated in a pot-type refining vessel having an approximately circular plane cross section with the inside constructed of refractory materials, at an approximately the center position of the refining vessel; and rotating the revolving shaft of the impeller in an approximately vertical state so as to agitate a desulfurizing agent added onto the molten pig iron and the molten pig iron for desulfurization treatment. The pot-type refining vessel for use has a bottom with an inner surface shape having no axial symmetry around the central axis of the refining vessel.
