PURPOSE: To increase an adhesive strength of an reflection layer with a protection layer and to prevent the separation of the reflection layer, by composing the reflection layer of a reflection type fluorescent lamp of a mixed reflection layer of two kinds of titanium oxides having a specific average grain size.
CONSTITUTION: A protection layer 2 is formed by applying an alumina sol suspension liquid to an inner surface of a glass tube and baking it after it has been dried. Next, titanium oxide having an average grain size of 0.02W0.05 μm and titanium oxide having an average grain size of 0.02W0.05 μm are added to a polyethylene oxide water solution to make a titanium oxide suspension liquid, which is applied onto the layer 2, dried and baked to form a reflection layer 3. Further, a fluorescent suspension liquid is applied onto the layer 3 to form a fluorescent member layer 4. The use of the titanium oxides of a fine grains as described above permits contact points among the grains and among the layer 2 and the grains to be increased. By this arrangement, an adhesion of the protection layer with a binder is improved even if the binder is composed of polyethylene oxide.
