Abstract:
To provide a reflective element such as a mirror having a substrate and a reflective layer formed thereon, and to provide a method for manufacturing the reflective element.
The substrate 55 contains at least one thixotropic metal alloy, which is injected into a mold to form the shape desired for the reflective element. The reflective element contains an interface layer 65 comprising a thermoset material, such as an epoxy resin, and the interface layer 65 is formed between the substrate 55 and the reflective layer 75 to improve the smoothness of the substrate.
